Arcade Max
Score: 98%
Developer: Nyko
Device Type: Controller

Function:

Yes! Finally relief for alienated old-school gamers like myself! If you got that purple mark on the inside of your hand, despite that quarter-inch thick callous... If everyone knows you by a three-letter nickname for the simple reason that ?it fits...? If you, like me, are able to invoke a ?nervous twitch? in your ?button hand? which is much faster than any auto-fire feature to date, then the Arcade Max is for you. True, there are other arcade sticks which ?look? more like actual arcade game parts. The difference is that this stick works. (Really well.) Old-school button slappin? meets creative and useful new features. Finally, a controller that loves you back!

Performance:

If you?re not familiar with arcade joysticks, you probably won?t be very interested in the Arcade Max. If you are, you?re familiar with this controller. The additional features are straight-forward and easy to use. Some newer games depend heavily on Dual Shock and the likes, but if you want to really get into your ?classics? collections or just want to kick some butt in your favorite fighter games the old fashioned way, then Nyko?s Arcade Max fits the bill.

Features:
  • Unique 270 degree rotatable fire button pad
  • Eight-way directional arcade-style stick
  • Independant auto-fire and turbo switches
  • Slow motion
  • Platinum series (from the producers of the Classic TrackBall)
  • Suction cup base
  • 6?6? cord

Drawbacks & Problems::

This isn?t one of those ?game-pads.? This is a one hand moving, one hand firing controller. As an arcade stick, the Arcade Max is an excellent controller. However, for those gamers who have to have their Dual Shock compatibility and have to be able to hold the controller completely in their hands, they might not like the Arcade Max. That?s okay. It?s not built for them anyways.
