The storyline revolves around Tigger's search for his "lost family," which he originally supposes is out there because of the aversion everyone else has to bouncing. The logic, according to Tigger, is that there must be a host of other "Tiggers" out there that love to bounce and have a good time, Tigger-style. His initial elation at this idea falls flat when he and the others fail to find any sign of a lost Tigger clan. Rather than watch the stripey fellow mope around, the Hundred-Acre Wood gang tries to convince him that he really does have family out there. Their initial attempts go awry, not without hilarious results, and the ultimate take-away is, of course, that all the family Tigger really needs is right there in front of him. The funny parts and well-written songs mixed into the story fall right in line with the winning formula we've seen since in other films from the Pooh oeuvre (is it too hifalutin' to say that Pooh really has an oeuvre?) and from Disney in general.
Additional features on this release, that really make this 10th Anniversary Edition special, include two full episodes of "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" and a host of games, songs, music videos, and an interactive storybook. There's also something we haven't seen before, which Disney bills as "DisneyFile Digital Copy." The idea is that once you buy a physical copy of The Tigger Movie: 10th Anniversary Edition, you can use iTunes or Windows MediaPlayer to download a digital copy of the film as if you bought it online. Smart move Disney, but the problem we ran into was that ridiculous copyright issues in iTunes, consistently treating you as if you're some kind of hacker on your own computer, forced us to change permissions for folders before we were "allowed" to download the film. Plus, you can only redeem the download on one computer, so you'd better have your iTunes sharing down pat. This is really an Apple issue, but an annoying one for buyers. The gotchas aside, The Tigger Movie: 10th Anniversary Edition is an awesome compilation of a classic film with tons of nifty extras that will keep kids happy for hours and hours.
