How does one combine guinea pigs, federal agents and robot toasters into any kind of a coherent movie plot? Simple, add Jerry Bruckheimer and a hefty dose of CGI and you have Disney's latest live action/CGI feature film G-Force. When funding for a covert group of super secret agent guinea pigs, a mole and a house fly is threatened, the team must prove their worth by infiltrating a highly defended mansion and retrieving sensitive information about a plot to exterminate human-kind. As this is the opening sequence of the movie, it naturally follows that the plan goes awry and funding is cut. The team ends up in a pet store and must escape, regroup and spring into action in order to stop the diabolical plan.

While the plot and progression are fairly standard for any Disney action movie (well, with the addition of guinea pigs), G-Force proves very entertaining nonetheless. Adult viewers will more than likely figure out the twists far before they are exposed, but for younger viewers, the tension will remain until the end. Graphically, the CGI is beautifully rendered and, even on Blu-ray, is very impressive. As usual with Disney, a stellar cast has been brought on board, with the main characters being voiced by Nicolas Cage, Tracy Morgan, Penelope Cruz, Jon Favreau, Steve Buscemi and the often under appreciated, but very talented Sam Rockwell. Additionally, live action stars Bill Nighy, Will Arnett and Zach Galifianakis round out the crew. The G-Force soundtrack is fun and trendy, often having my girls dancing in their seats.

The Blu-ray edition of G-Force includes Blu-ray, DVD and digital versions of the movie. Also included are a bevvy of bonus features. The Blu-ray version includes a commentary track viewing of the movie which, aside from having snippets of background information from the actors and directors, also has interactive features that pause the movie and show some behind-the-scenes cuts. The Blu-ray version also includes a look at Jerry Bruckheimer's previous animated works, as well as an inside look at the animation lab used in making the film. All versions of the film include several other bonus features, including a blooper reel, some deleted scenes, three music videos and a behind-the-scenes look at the inspiration for the story.

G-Force is certainly an entertaining film, especially for it's targeted demographic. The action is plentiful and exciting, the characters are as emotive as I've ever seen CGI guinea pigs, and the plot rolls along nicely. Packed full of bonus features, the Blu-ray version takes full advantage of the extra disc space and, while none of these features are overly long, they are all well-made and enjoyable. Younger Disney fans will undoubtedly enjoy repeated viewings and for those young-at-heart viewers, you won't be completely bored either. G-Force is a quality offering well worth the extra money for the Blu-ray version.
