So we've seen Chuck Bartowski, the bumbling Nerd Herder turned CIA asset, and we've seen Agent Charles Carmichael, Bartowski's suave and debonair alter ego. In Chuck: The Complete Third Season, we see a blend of both. Last season, Chuck (Zachary Levi) managed to upgrade the Intersect in his head to Version 2.0, giving him not only the ability to flash on subjects and instantly know intel on them, but to have abilities like weapons use and martial arts. The main problem is that Chuck's feelings, specifically his love for Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski), keep getting in the way and hampering the Intersect's abilities. Once again, Sarah and Chuck have their ups and downs this season, starting with Chuck flunking out of Spy School and then deciding to pursue his life as a spy rather than running off to live with Sarah in civilian life.

Enter Agent Shaw (Brandon Routh), who joins the team to help break the Ring, but ends up having an agenda all his own. During the season, Chuck and the viewers won't know whether to trust Shaw or not, and it seems that he holds a pretty serious grudge for the death of his wife, another agent. He'll be not only a thorn in Chuck's side, but also a rival for Sarah's affections.

We also get to see a completely different side to John Casey (Adam Baldwin) as we get a really interesting glimpse into his past and find out he not only had a fiancée, but he has a daughter he never knew existed. It's great to see Casey show some feelings and not just give a grunt here and there. Oh, but we love Casey's grunts, don't get us wrong.

After things not panning out in Hawaii at Benihana, Morgan Grimes (Josh Gomez) returns to Burbank only to have Big Mike (Mark Christopher Lawrence) name him Assistant Manager. Of course, the troops don't appreciate this and turn on him with hilarious results. Some of the best scenes in these episodes have a Fight Club flair to them with Jeff (Scott Krinsky) and Lester (Vic Sahay) leading the pack. Oh, how you will laugh. Season Three also finds Morgan joining Team Bartowski as he discovers Chuck's secret and is made a "part" of the team. He actually really steps up this season, becoming fairly invaluable and in a hysterical episode where the employees barricade themselves into the Buy More to prevent a corporate buyout, Morgan totally mans up. Of course, Devon (Ryan McPartlin) is having a tough time lying to Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) about Chuck's secret life, but finds solace knowing that Morgan knows as well. Devon decides that he needs to leave with Ellie to protect her and the pair do a brief stint in Africa with Doctors Without Borders, only to have Ellie become entrapped in a plot against her father (Scott Bakula), unwittingly teaming up with a dirty CIA/Ring agent. She thinks she's helping things, but actually brings about tragedy.

Chuck becomes involved with a girl named Hannah (Kristin Kreuk, Smallville) for a brief time when she comes to work at the Buy More and it just seems that fate is determined to keep Chuck and Sarah apart. Will these two ever get together? The answer is a resounding yes! Finally, Sarah and Chuck admit their true feelings and their love for one another. Even General Beckham (Bonita Friedericy) has to say "Finally!" when the pair eventually hook up. The season finale has the pair together, but reveals that another member of Chuck's family, long thought gone forever, might just be closer than they think.

As far as special features go, you can expect a nice selection of deleted scenes, a gag reel, The Jeffster Revolution: The Definitive Mockumentary (a VH1-styled short on how Jeffster came together and where they've gone), plus Chuck-Fu... and Dim Sum, a hefty featurette on the major plot points of Season 3. All are very enjoyable, especially Chuck Fu and The Jeffster Revolution.

If you've got a high-def setup, Chuck on Blu-ray is the way to go. After all, this is a comedy/action series under the producing hand of McG, so always expect plenty of 'splosions. Most look pretty good in Blu-ray and only one or two looked cheesy and too CG, so overall, I'd prefer the super-crisp picture and enveloping sound of Blu-ray to standard def any day of the week and Chuck: The Complete Third Season is no exception. If you've been following the show, you'll know that the dedicated fan base has brought Chuck back from the edge time and again. I really like the direction this how has taken and can't wait to see where they go from here.
