When Lost premiered, it was a totally new concept. Instead of a small cast of main characters, they showed a very large cast of characters and followed several different plotlines at once. Noone ever knew what was going to happen from one episode to the next, including the cast, for the most part. They wouldn't even know their character was going to be killed off until the week it happened. All of this gave Lost a very mysterious air and kept us watching on the edge of our seats to see what was going to happen next.

Lost: Season 3 started out right where Season Two ended. Unfortunately, the first five or six episodes were just not up to par with the previous season. Like a lot of people I know, I stopped watching at the beginning of the season, just never picked it back up after the Christmas break last year. I was told I should, because the beginning of the season was slow, but the ones who stuck with it told me it got really good after the break. They were right. I should have watched it then. But at least this way I got to see it all at once and didn't have to wait a week to see the next episode. Honestly, with the exception of the first five episodes that I had seen, I watched the other 18 episodes in one day, back to back. Especially near the end of the season, you can't stop watching, even if you can hardly hold your eyes open. I can't imagine having to wait a week to see what happened!

So honestly, I can't tell you much about what happens because it will spoil the show for you. But I will give you some tidbits to entice you to watch. The love triangle involving Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and Jack (Matthew Fox) vying for Kate's (Evangeline Lilly) affection continues. Locke (Terry O'Quinn) continues to go further off the deep end trying to figure out the mysteries of the island. Nikki (Kiele Sanchez) and Paulo (Rodrigo Santoro), well let's just say I really enjoyed their episode. Desmond (Henry Ian Cusick) starts to play a much bigger role in the stories than he previously has. Sayid (Naveen Andrews), Charlie (Dominic Monaghan), Claire (Emilie de Ravin), Hurley (Jorge Garcia), Jin (Daniel Dae Kim), Sun (Yunjin Kim), and all the rest of your favorite castaways are all back too.

Then, there's the "Others" to talk about. The Others have been the major villains of the series, but throughout the previous seasons we have learned very little about them. In Season 3, we learn a little more about them, about who they are and where some of them came from. Ben (Michael Emerson) and Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) are the two main Others that have some of their back stories revealed. That's not to say all the secrets of Lost are revealed. In keeping with traditional Lost, the questions that are answered only raise even more questions! The DVD release of Lost: Season 3 also includes several Bonus Features. A number of the episodes can be watched with cast and crew commentaries turned on. Then, there's a full disc of bonus features. I will warn you that it's one of those discs where you'll have to search around to find where to press to get the features list. But if you've seen the series, you'll probably guess where to click right away.

As I'm sure you've noticed, there are a lot of books in various places on the island. The Lost Book Club goes through some of those books and their relation to the story. I had noticed some of them while watching, but there were quite a few, like The Third Policeman, that I missed that the Book Club segment explained. The Lost: On Location scenes are really great to watch too. My personal favorite scene was the one with Jin confronting Jae Lee (Tony Lee). Daniel Dae Kim is a wonderful actor. Listening to him describe playing Jin was great. There are three additional flashbacks, and a quite a few more deleted scenes. Some of them add important extra knowledge about the characters and their past. There's so many more additional features that I just don't have space to go into them all.

Honestly, you should just say Namaste to Lost and go buy Season 3 (and Seasons 1 and 2 if you don't already own them). Even if you've already seen them on TV, you'll catch so much more on a second viewing and the extra features make it well worth the purchase!
