What happens when you take three talented best friends and send them on a trip to India to film a movie? This is the plot for the latest Cheetah Girls adventure, Cheetah Girls: One World. With Galleria off at college in England, the third movie in this Disney Channel original series features Chanel, Dorinda and Aqua as they head off to India to star in a new Bollywood movie entitled "Namaste Bombay." Unfortunately, upon arriving they discover that, due to budget constraints, only one of them will receive the starring role. Can their friendship, and their singing group, survive the competition? Instead of heading home, they decide that they will each try out for the role, promising not to let the competition come between their friendship. Still, as the try-outs grow closer, each girl, having befriended a local, is promised that they will receive the role because of their respective strengths.

The movie was a nice overall addition to the series. It does a nice job of dealing with subjects such as jealousy, loneliness, compassion and friendship. The acting is about what you would expect; nothing Oscar-worthy, yet still engaging without being overly sappy. The Indian scenery is well represented, showing off some of the more famous locales and exposing Western children to a glimpse of another culture not normally presented in the genre. The pacing of the movie feels right and even the addition of an additional musical scene does not feel disjointed.

As mentioned, the DVD version of the movie includes an extended scene featuring a singing performance of the song "Feels Like Love." It fit in nicely, leaving me to hypothesize that it was left out of the television version for time slot purposes only. Other bonus features include a blooper reel, two music videos and the option to replay any of the nine musical scenes from the movie, individually or consecutively, with or without sing-a-long lyrics. One additional feature, Backstage Disney: Cheetah Spots, is a replay of the movie with pop-up trivia and some behind-the-scenes interviews interspersed. All in all, it is a nice mixture of materials which adds to the overall appeal of the DVD and confirms my belief that fans of the movie should buy this title.
