Zombie Apocalypse: Redemption is set in the future where a virus has devastated the population of the Earth turning them into zombies. To make matters even worse, the US and the Soviet Union decided that nuclear weapons would be useful in getting rid of the zombies at chosen sites. As you can imagine, this was a very bad decision and 98% of the human population is now destroyed. It is now 12 years after that decision and no one can even calculate how many zombies there are. What is left of the human population is struggling to survive in a world full of zombies and they are low on resources due to the nuclear wasteland. Zombies outnumber the humans at least 10,000 to 1. Not a very pretty picture, is it? Of course, you'd think that logically, those humans who are left would help each other, but human nature being what it is precludes that.

Knox (Johnny Gel) is left in a desert to die, handcuffed with no supplies. After walking for what seems like forever, he finally finds another human, who is so badly hurt that he begs Knox to kill him. Know should have just let him live, because once he is dead, he comes back for Knox to have to deal with. This is the world as it is now. Knox passes out from exhaustion, but is luckily found by a group of survivors who are good people. Moses (Fred Williamson) is their leader. His companions include Sarah (Alicia Clark), Doc Potter (Dan Lang), Robert (Joseph Scott Anthony) and Lucas (Tommy Beardmore). The man who freed Knox in the desert is tortured for his actions in a scene that reminds me very much of the survivors left in Doomsday. He is obviously in with a bad group and they want Knox dead. Their leader, Rome (Jerry Lynch), is obsessed with getting Knox back no matter how much it costs him. Rome isn't exactly sane and I'm not sure I'd even consider him much of a human anymore. His group is a band of ex-military survivors called the Raiders. The Raiders waste no time trying to find Knox, which now puts his new group in trouble. At least Knox proves that he has the skills to help them. Sarah acts like she hates him and fights with him all the time, but the relationship makes for great sexual tension between them.

While Knox is out helping gather supplies, the Raiders find Moses' camp. They kill off most of them and kidnap Sarah and Moses. When Knox and Robert return to the camp and find it in shambles, they try to regroup. Lucas is still there but there's no way that three men can defeat the entire Raiders camp. Maybe with a bit of help from the zombies, they can devise a plan and try to rescue everyone that they can.

In addition to the movie, there are quite a few special features. I found the Deleted Scenes interesting because you find out that Maddox, the man who freed Knox, was actually his estranged brother. That does make sense as to why he would risk his life for Knox. You also learn more about the group that Knox joins. Personally, I would have liked to see some of these scenes left in as they flesh out the movie more, but I'm guessing time was a factor as the movie is already over an hour and a half long. There is also a making-of that is quite entertaining.

Zombie Apocalypse: Redemption is more about the apocalypse part of the movie than the zombie part. The humans that are left are the larger threat than the zombies, which I found a bit interesting considering how badly the zombies outnumber the humans. Still though, Zombie Apocalypse: Redemption is a good fit for those who like either zombies or post-apocalyptic movies as you get both!
