The Adventures of Chuck and Friends: Monster Rally is a cartoon centered on a town where all the inhabitants are vehicles. Chuck is child-size dump truck, Chuck's mom is a forklift and his dad is a big rig. He has six friends that he plays with daily: Rowdy, Handy, Boomer, Soku, Digger and Biggs. Their names tell you who they are. Rowdy is a garbage truck, Handy is a tow truck, Boomer is a fire truck, Soku is a street racing car, Digger is a backhoe and Biggs is a monster truck. They all have different personalities, strengths, and weaknesses, but together they can do incredible things. For the most part, they hang out and play at the dump or the dirt track. They also spend time at the diner, which is a gas station, and the garage where his mom does repairs on the other trucks.

The majority of the episodes have moral lessons that Chuck learns, but that doesn’t mean they’re not fun as well. They act just like normal kids playing around in the summer time. To start the series off, Chuck gets a brand new horn. When he goes to show it to his friends, they are quite impressed and want one for themselves, at least until Soku shows up with a new police set complete with lights and a speaker system that makes him sound like an adult. Chuck is jealous and thinks that he needs to find something more impressive so that his friends will like him more. His solution is to borrow (without asking of course) tires that are supposed to be put on his big brother. His friends are most definitely impressed, but things don’t go as planned. Chuck has to learn that his friends like him for who he is rather than the cool gadgets that he might get.

Throughout the series, Chuck is going to learn many other things. He learns that you shouldn’t take anything to an excess. Even something like exercise is bad if you overdo it. Moderation in all things is best. Chuck also learns about daredevils and daring his friends. They need to learn that dares can get you in trouble, so you need to be careful. If a dare will hurt you, then you shouldn’t do it. Chuck has to learn patience when he takes the giant robot out without testing it well enough. Of course, not everything is a lesson. Sometimes Chuck and his friends just need to help someone, like when a celebrity comes to town. He just wants to be a normal person for a while, so Chuck and his friends help to get rid of the new van that is trying to stalk the celebrity truck.

The Adventures of Chuck and Friends: Monster Rally is a pretty good beginning to a series. It’s pretty obviously geared towards boys, but that doesn’t mean that girls can’t enjoy it as well. It’s pretty much like a My Little Pony type series, but aimed at boys. I like that it is appropriate for all audiences. There are no sly things that adults and older children might catch on to that aren’t really appropriate for little kids. It’s aimed at a younger crowd, but I think it should make all ages laugh at times. There is also a bonus sing-along feature on the DVD for your kids to sing to the songs of the series. If you want a series for your kids that you don’t have to worry about them watching, check out The Adventures of Chuck and Friends: Monster Rally.
